Short Stories Mentorship

Do you want to write short stories that pack a punch?

12 coaching sessions | 12 short story appraisals | 12 months of learning

You show up to the page. You add word after word, but it feels like you’re just doing the same thing over and over again. Do you wish there was someone who could read your stories and give you consistent, valuable feedback?

That is exactly what you want, right?

Join Mia for the intensive short story programme. The programme offers you the opportunity to work with a writing teacher on a monthly basis, from January to December, who will evaluate your draft story and give you kind, constructive feedback before posting it on the site or submitting to a competition or publication.

How does it work?

One week after the prompt is published you submit your story to Mia. In the next ten days, you will have a coaching session during which Mia will work through your story with you. You will have the last two weeks to rewrite your story before submitting in time for the 12 Short Stories deadline. Mia will read your final draft on the site.

If you aren’t ready for the challenge yet, Mia will send you a prompt. Using the prompt is optional. You will submit your story one week later. Mia will work through your story and share her evaluation with you. You will be able to rewrite your story and submit to Mia again, before your next consultation.

Is this programme for you?

Do you want professional, personal feedback on your stories? The coaching sessions are student-lead and are adapted to your level of writing experience. You can choose where you want to focus your efforts and in which areas you would like to improve. The added accountability will help you create a routine with the support of a fixed timeline.
