Scene 1 (Denial) – The Accused – Jenna Pitchford-Hyde

I've written academic articles for a number of years (mostly focused on the military, masculinity, and disability) in my job as a researcher and lecturer so am comfortable with analytical writing, but I am completely new to fiction writing.

Over the last few months I've attempted to write a few shorts stories and poems, but this is the first creative writing course I've participated in and definitely the first time I've attempted to draft a novel!

I've always loved the idea of writing fiction, but was too scared to share my work when I was younger (and for the last decade I've also been juggling work and four young children). Turning 40 last year seemed like a good excuse to be brave and finally give it a try!

I'm hoping to learn more about writing techniques, especially plotting, pacing, and how to approach and present dialogue effectively. Most of all I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone's stories (and hopefully mine too) develop over the coming months!
