What a lovely love story, Fizza, I so enjoyed watching Maya fall in love with Sameer, the way you transitioned her feelings was captured and portrayed so well. And how sad for Aphrodite to be trapped in a loveless marriage; such irony!

Oh dear! If there is one that should be in love, it is Aphrodite. And there she is, trapped in a loveless marriage and distracting herself from it by toying with mortal emotions. This is profound, Fizza. Really really well done!

Hi Fizza,

I enjoyed this read and the double strands of the story. It did make me think a bit too.

Thanks for sharing.

Great Story! I especially loved the mythology touch with Aphrodite and Hephaestus. Or I should say divine interference! LOL The resulting effects of Maya falling in love was very well portrayed.

I liked the humor, like when Sameer was able to show up 5 seconds later, after asking Maya for a date! This was an excellent example of show and don’t tell, as there was no need to say he made the phone call from the front door (or very close by). I liked the way it threw Maya off.

It is very ironic, that Aphrodite, the goddess of love, had such an unloving marriage. It was almost like she ‘fell in love’ with couples who were in love. As that was the only way she could satisfy the need for the love she craved.

The story also questioned an age old belief about love being forever. Maybe not all love was not made to last forever after all. Maybe some people fall in and out of love and it is fleeting.

A very well written story and good read! It was very thought provoking on many levels.

Amazing take on the prompt. I love mythology and it’s nice to see Aphrodite hasn’t entirely forsaken humanity. Very enjoyable read. If I were to suggest anything at all it would be the word shambles (simply because Maya is so content with her own company, I’m not sure she’d see it as a wreck). Thanks so much for a fun read!

Hi Fizza,
I loved the mythical twist in the story. You know when I think of Aphrodite, she just is the goddess of love and sexuality, but I’ve never imagine her of all people having marital problems. This was an interesting perspective. Maybe you can make them go to Athena for some couples’ counselling in Area 51? Lol. Thank you for this refreshingly different take on romance.

Hi!
I must say I’m not much of a romance person, but I can relate a lot to the MC and I think that’s why I liked it! Great story. This is my favorite sentence you wrote, ” This was even worse than asking for a favor.” I love the humor in the story. Fun read!
